I worked for 14 years in advertising and was most recently a (1) Creative Director for brands like Starbucks, Nike, Verizon McDonald’s, at agencies like AKQA, 72andSunny, BETC Paris, Tribal DDB Toronto. As a minority leader in advertising/creativity/technology, I wanted to bring more diversity to male-dominated industries like technology by making little girls aspire to them, and (2) founded Secret Code. I also wanted in help women remain in male-dominated industries like advertising by finding role models they can work for, and (3) founded Where Are The Boss Ladies. I recently left my advertising career to (4) lead Brand & Community Director at Fishbowl to help isolated professionals navigate their careers through transparent and safe conversations about work.

Associate Creative Director, AKQA New York
"I cannot speak more highly of Mara Lecocq. She is a true inspiration and the most hard-working person I know. She is not only an amazing creative but also a caring teacher and leader, encouraging her teams to be persistent, learning from failures and turning those lessons into winning ideas.
Mara speaks up, takes smart risks and dares to be uncomfortable. Her genuine enthusiasm is inspiring and contagious, demonstrating passion for her work by going beyond what’s required. She comes in early and stays late to meet critical deadlines, volunteering to take the lead on projects and consistently doing more than the minimum. Her management isn't just working for a paycheck, but for the growth of the work and her team. Mara recognizes that many heads and hands are responsible for a project’s success. She acknowledges and praises the contributions of the entire team. She is a visionary with a solid history of outstanding work, including impressive portfolios and awards.
However, what Mara is best known for is being a vicarious advocate for women, passionately speaking out to empower and support them. This is central to who she is. She is seasoned in nurturing young women and uplifting them in reaching their goals, whether it is in or out of the work place. She is an inspiring individual who is a creative force of to be reckoned with."
Director of Decision Science, Nike Portland
"Mara is one of those rare creative directors who is not only amazing at her job, but is awesome at mine too. She does her own research, asks provocative questions, making everything that we do stronger together. She then delivers original, innovative and thoroughly beautiful creative concepts that take the brief to new heights. Mara exceeds expectations every time. She is also a breath of fresh air, truly representative of a new generation of creative leadership - intelligent, inclusive, strong, caring, well-rounded and limitlessly talented. She's a full-service creative shop in one person. "
